Over 200 exhibitors at Fiera l-Kbira

Malta Independent Tuesday, 8 July 2014, 14:50 Last update: about 12 years ago

Over 200 exhibitors will be taking part in the Fiera l-Kbira which will be held at the Montekristo Estates in Hal Farrug from the 10th until the 20th July.

Details about the event, which is expected to attract thousands of families looking for a good deal on anything from home appliances to insurance to PV systems and boats, were announced at a press conference at the venue.

Luke Gatt, Director of organisers Expo Events Malta said the venue was chosen because the public clearly wants to go back to the fairs of the past. Montekristo Estates, he said, offer ample space for the task. Visitors will be given the chance to win a Skoda Rapid Spaceback car. A children’s park will also be open for families with young children. The entrance fee is €2.50 per person.

Pierre Fenech, General Manager of Montekristo Estates Malta, said the main road leading to the venue will be open one-way, with traffic coming in from the Luqa side and exiting from Ta’ Kandja. A park-and-ride facility will also be available. A secondary road is being pedestrianised for the duration of the fair and another road will be reserved for emergency vehicles. Mr Fenech urged the public to cooperate with police officers who will be controlling traffic.

He also announced that all proceeds from the car park - €2 per car – will be donated to The Malta Community Chest Fund.

In the meantime, questions have been raised over the way in which Montekristo Estates - which are covered by a number of enforcement notices for illegal development - have been granted a trading licence.
