BOV  K.O. – Premier

Exiles Ferretti     5     Sliema Frank Salt     18

(2-3, 0-3, 1-6, 2-6)

Fresh from their narrow victory over San Giljan, Sliema made short shrift of their opponents, to amble through to the semi final, against Valletta, later on this month. Exiles provided good opposition for the opening session, but then they fell further behind till the interval, and were overwhelmed after the break.

Exiles had Julian Rizzo Naudi missing, and James Spiteri Staines was involved in a road accident on the day of the match, and was only a spectator, with a heavily bandaged leg, at the Pool. Sliema now have Ivan Basara as a regular companion Antonio Petkovic for the remainder of the season.

Sliema led three times in the opening quarter, with Peter Borg replying twice for the losers. In the next session the Blues again found the back of their opponents’ net three times more, but this time there was no response from Exiles, as Sliema went in, 6-2 ahead, at the interval.

Sliema continued with their dominance in the last two sessions, and this time they scored six times more in each period, with Exiles taking time to net their only goal in the third session, and then adding two more, late in the match, for a somewhat better scoreline.

Sliema scored in all of their three man ups, and had John Soler with a nap hand of goals, and Basara, Petkovic and Jerome Gabarretta  registered a poker of goals each. Exiles had six man ups, but only scored once, with Peter Borg remaining their best score, with his brace of strikes.
