The Swieqi Police Station

We Swieqi residents have, in general, appreciated the fact that at long last Swieqi has its own police station. It is however totally useless if it is not run professionally by today’s standards; ours unfortunately does not seem to be!

I needed to report urgently something to the Police and decided to pop over at 11.30am on Friday 11July to report an unauthorised entry by some third party/ies in the Ibrag area.

The place was closed. I decided to phone the given landline number 2137 8166 and heard the phone ring from outside the station. Obviously, there was no answer. But should not the phone system provide for an automatic transfer to say the St Julian’s police station or Police HQ when this situation arises?

If the said station is not operational 24/7, why is there at least no notice indicating the station’s opening hours, or in case the place is closed where to file a report? Not very encouraging at all!

It would be most useful if the local council reports this to the relevant Minister and Police HQ. It is a mockery of us Swieqi residents which we shall not accept sitting down!

Hon. Minister, Police Commissioner, please run the place as it should be, provide the service that we require since we pay our taxes and we need better security.

Swieqi does not need a police station that is closed when one requires its service.
