Allow me to pass a comment about The Times’ news items ‘I believe I have the best qualities for the job’ and ‘Tearful Sai Mizzi hits back at critics over pay speculation’ (11 July, 2014).
I would like to ask the Maltese government’s envoy for Asia whether she was in actual fact given a direct appointment as Malta’s envoy for Asia by the government without a public call for applications and whether she was aware that a Freedom of Information request for her contract filed by The Malta Independent had been refused by the Maltese government.
That is because, according to the news pieces cited, Mrs Mizzi claimed that her salary is in the region of €3,000 per month (and not €13,000), but she did not reveal her fringe benefits and allowances.
