emCare introduces new add-ons

Malta Independent Thursday, 31 July 2014, 20:05 Last update: about 13 years ago

Since its creation, emCare, the result of a partnership between Vassallo Group's elderly care operation, Caremalta and 6PM PLC, the highly established IT solutions company in international healthcare solutions, has researched and heavily involved itself in the development of Active Ageing.

Within the last months, the company has expanded its services locally and is also showing very positive international growth.  One of the services includes add-ons to the TelecarePlus and eCare services to further increase the well-being and provide peace of mind to clients and their families.

One such device is the On-Wrist Fall trigger which is specifically designed and developed with the intention of automatically raising an alert to the call centre when a fall is detected. Being waterproof, it is ideal for the common falls out of the bath or shower. The device learns one's movements to be as least intrusive as possible, whilst also having an in-built panic button should the user require assistance or aid.

The emCare Intruder Alert warns the call centre of any specific danger such as the unauthorised attempt of entering a residence. Such cases are handled efficiently, professionally and safely by contacting emergency services to be the first on the scene. The alert is also commonly used for frequent wanderers due to the condition of dementia to safeguard their next of kin's peace of mind.

There are many other add-ons available for many different situations and conditions. Some of these include a Bed Exit Alert, Chair Pressure Alert, Your Pill Alert, Gas and CO2 alerts, Smoke Alerts, Extreme Temp Alerts, Epilepsy monitors and the list goes on.

emCare's interest in monitoring one's environment has also just been extended to 'On the Move Monitoring' through the introduction of their mLife service. This service consists of a mobile phone that is the product of many months of trials, tests, case studies and developments. With this mobile phone, the excuse "I don't know how to use a mobile" can no longer be validated. This phone has been designed to be as simple to use as the user would like it to be, from using just ONE button all the way to GPS location, geo-fencing, medication reminders, appointments, doctor visits, camera, radio, torch, etc.

Through the introduction of SCOPE in a number of care homes locally and internationally, emCare has gained valuable experience in the line of remote monitoring and building an in-depth electronic medical record. Ultimately maintaining a current health condition and diagnosing an emerging health condition by providing a deeply insightful report for healthcare professionals to determine how to use their experience to help. The devices that can be connected to this application are Weighing Scales, an Ear Thermometer, Blood Glucose Monitor, Peak Flow Meter, Blood Pressure Monitor and Pulse Oximeter. Other devices such as ECG monitor will also be available in the short term.
