After the success of previous Gamezing events, the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Malta Chapter is launching Gamezing 2014, a digital game development competition. It is kindly being sponsored by Digital Games Malta.
Digital Games Malta’s mission is to guide national policy in the setting up of a digital games industry in Malta through competence and capacity building, raising public awareness, engagement of stakeholders, and investment promotion and support. The goal of IGDA and Gamezing is to increase the profile of digital game development amongst everyone ranging from students to industry.
The competition recognizes and awards excellence in Digital Games produced in Malta and is open to individuals, groups or organizations. Games can participate in the following categories:
1. Best Educational Game – Any type of game created in Malta with the intent to transfer knowledge, experiment in design or mechanics.
2. Best Popular Game –A Maltese game which is well received and covered in the media by several publications or reviews, both locally and abroad.
3. Best Independent Game – Games developed and produced by small teams of developers, individual coders and artists, or students.
Registration for Gamezing 2014 opened on the 1st of August and teams will have until Sunday, 24th August 2014 to submit their finished games. The jury will be comprised of a number of media and game related experts serving as jurors.
The Award Ceremony will be held on the 11 September 2014 at the Gamezing Summer Night Event in collaboration with the International Conference on Games and Virtual Worlds for Serious Applications 2014 (http://www.um.edu.mt/events/vs-games2014), which will be held in Malta.
