One match this evening and two more tomorrow, bring an end to the round-robin First phase of the BoV Waterpolo Premier Division when matches in the Championship Pool and Relegation Pool will be played as from next week after the teams are divided into two groups.

This weekend’s matches have little bearing on the final groupings, with Neptunes Grimaldi, Sliema Frank Salt Real Estate and San Giljan Allcare Insurance already guaranteed of a place in the Championship Pool and will fight it between them for this year’s title.

This evening Sliema play bottom side Exiles Ferretti (8pm) and are expected to consolidate second place in the Premier Division, moreso because the team behind them, San Giljan, three points adrift, face a tough encounter against leaders Neptunes tomorrow (7.30pm).

The match before that tomorrow, starting at 6.15pm, provides nothing tangible to play for as both Sirens Ritter Sport and Valletta McDonalds, will be playing in the Relegation Pool as from next week.

Meanwhile Sirens coach Bogdan Rath has been suspended for two weeks (until 19 August) and fined by the ASA, after being shown the red card during his side’s match against Neptunes on Wednesday.
