Humans die. For many people, the thought of death causes great trauma. Religions provide relief by promising immortality and give meaning to sickness and other undesirable events.

The more one uses his reasonable powers the more he doubts the teachings of religions. Many humans, throughout the centuries, fell into despair.

However, nowadays there are scientists who are promising that immortality will come about sometime in the near future.

With discoveries such as cloning, the genome, tissue engineering, implants, memory enhancements, modern prostheses, genetic engineering and so on, the scientific promise is very realistic

The promise of scientific discoveries can play the part of a reliable new religion that can, one day, bring about immortality and eternal youth.
