6PM has joined the Digital Health Institute (DHI) as a company member. The Digital Health Institute (DHI) is an Innovation Centre funded by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) in partnership with Scottish Enterprise (SE) and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE). It aims to create an open community where industry will collaborate and work together with academia, health, care and social partners effectively on innovation opportunities which will create societal and economic benefits in Scotland. The DHI innovation centre is part of the Scottish Funding Council’s long term investment programme to accelerate growth in key industries.
Scotland is facing a major crisis due to the pressures of an aging population. Worldwide, models of health and care cannot scale to meet the challenge of demographic shift despite technological advances. The demand on health and social care provisions are categorically unsustainable. Global health and care efficiency must improve by over 35% to maintain current standards of care for increasing numbers and requirements. Scotland’s health and care budget will need to make equivalent efficiency improvements of £3.5bn per annum. Digital health interventions are recognised as key to the solution in tackling the crisis.
The DHI draws together the expertise that is at its core, across Medicine, Design, Business and Informatics, to create innovative and transformational solutions to health and social care delivery through its Explore, Experience, Exploit approach. Throughout all three activities the DHI will build capability and expertise in Digital Health and embed innovations and new ways of working through an engaged and integrated approach to ensure sustainable innovation and provide economic stimulation and growth in Scotland.
6PM will be able to contribute by promoting and supporting digital health solutions in the Scottish market. These include iFIT, that helps manage physical paper health records, supplies, medical devices, assets and vulnerable patients, porters through RFID, and ConCERT-D, an advanced clinical solution designed to manage dementia patients and dementia research.
