Hang your head in shame, Mepa – Mr Chairman in particular – and you too, Mr San Gwann major (the locality’s very own ‘invisible man’), because both you and your entourages of paid-too-much cronies have allowed a 200-year-old farmhouse to be demolished. 

You are not fit for purpose. You are nothing but ‘status grabbers’, strutting about like peacocks, enjoying the trappings of ‘power’. You have ignored the multiple alerts I and others have given you both, yet you still hide behind your majestic – publicly funded – desks looking prim and proper, stiff upper lip with moustachioed appendices and all that. Shame on you: there is nothing civil about your acquired ‘civil servant’ status.

You have magnificently proved yourselves as worse than the lowliest of this the earth, certainly of this beloved country of ours. 

I hope you are now happy. I am recording these words in this newspaper for the sake of posterity so that future generations can revile your names and curse you for allowing speculators and the attraction of lucre to destroy our heritage.

Shame on you and all who supported you in your decision to destroy yet another part of Malta’s history now to be buried like the dodo under a morass of irrelevant concrete blocks and general darkness.
