Ingrid Azzopardi, GO’s Group Internal Auditor, has been appointed Chairman of The Malta Forum for Internal Auditors for a two year period.
Ingrid Azzopardi, an active member on the Executive Committee, is a founder member of the Forum which was set up in 2007 with the objective of bringing together professionals to promote, support and facilitate education about the profession and to create awareness about internal auditing.
A certified public accountant and auditor, Ingrid Azzopardi is very active in the field of internal auditing and in the past 20 years has set up and developed GO’s Internal Audit Function.
Stated Ms. Azzopardi, ‘’ in today’s business environment, an internal auditor is considered a trusted advisor. Consequently, internal auditors need to take a more proactive and problem-solving role. Apart from the effective and efficient execution of the Audit Plan, Internal Auditors need to provide value added services and proactive strategic advice to the business by recommending meaningful improvements and risk assurance’’.
She is also a member of the Global International Institute of Internal Auditors which is based in the USA and in July attended the 73rd annual international meeting of the Institute which was held in London, a networking experience for over 2000 delegates from 133 countries.
The Malta Forum for Internal Auditors will host their next seminar on Corporate Governance and Risk on Tuesday 18th November. The keynote speaker at this event will be Phil Tarling, the 2012-2013 Chairman of the Global Board of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
