The English-Speaking Union (ESU) of Malta announces the appointment of Pia Zammit as director of Education.
Pia brings 20 years of English language industry experience, as well as a strong familiarity with public-speaking training. As the director, Pia will take on board all the programmes that the ESU currently runs, as well as the administration that the ESU requires.
“We are excited to have Pia on board since we believe that she will bring a number of important skills to the role, specifically her understanding of the English language field that stems from her years as a director of Studies with a language school,” ESU Malta’s chairperson John de Giorgio said.
“Also, her natural enthusiasm and theatricality will go down well with our public-speaking and debating academies, and will help bring a greater level of visibility to the ESU.”
The ESU of Malta aims to strengthen the use of the English language in the Maltese Islands and is a branch of the London headquartered ESU, established in 1918 and active in over 50 countries.
ESU Malta runs programmes across primary and secondary schools, as well as at the University of Malta, and also provides continuous English education to adults resident in Malta and Gozo in the form of English conversation, writing and public-speaking courses.
