On 13th September, Malta Red Cross, together with its 188 sister National Societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement, celebrated World First Aid Day.
Every five seconds, a person in the world dies from an injury.
We are all at risk, whether through an accident or an emergency. If without prior warning, your child chokes on a toy, your mother fainted or a colleague is hurt at work, would you know what to do? Many of us would not!
What can be done?
Ninety per cent of lives are saved during an emergency by lay people. It is not always doctors, nurses or paramedics but ordinary people going about their business who have the knowledge and confidence to act quickly moments after an emergency strikes. Many-a-time, it is fear and lack of first aid skills that holds us back from saving a life that’s at stake.
Here’s the solution… get training in First Aid!
The Red Cross and Red Crescent trains more than 14 million people a year throughout the world in first aid.
Malta Red Cross is a leader in providing first aid courses with over 20 years of experience in delivering first aid courses which are in accordance with the European Red Cross and Red Crescent guidelines, and also recognised by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC).
First aid training gives you the skills and the confidence to make a difference and become a hero.
