After having sold a sizeable number of copies of the CD Taqbila, which it itself had produced and subsequently launched last year in June, APS Bank Ltd has given all proceeds to Ejjew Għandi, a local charity organisation that helps disadvantaged children.
The proceeds, amounting to €2,800, were presented to Director of Ejjew Għandi, Mgr Victor Zammit McKeon at APS Bank Centre in Swatar on Tuesday, September 30th, 2014.
Taqbila is a compilation of Maltese poems and nursery rhymes aimed at young children that were set to music by prolific composer Mro Dominic Galea and performed by the Mirabitur Youth Choir under the direction of Ms Simone Attard. The rhymes include popular lyrics such as Il-Bewsa tan-Nanna, Sajjied ta' Xewqtu as well as Wenzu l-Iskarpan, which people belonging to older generations would have become familiar with during their childhood.
Lyrics and music scores to each of the songs can also be found on www.qawsalla.com, a resourceful website that was designed in conjunction with the CD. This virtual space also features easily accessible educational content written in Maltese, enabling children and their parents alike to widen their knowledge of the Maltese heritage.
