Much was written and stated recently in praise of the late Dr G. Borg Olivier, former prime minister and leader of the Nationalist Party (PN). Tributes were also expressed by those in the PN who conspired against the gentleman. Dr Borg Olivier was removed as leader of the PN in 1976, by means of a plot hatched by fellow MPs, after the party lost the general election by only three seats.
In 2013, the PN lost the general election with a nine-seat humiliation. Another tkaxkira followed in the European Parliament elections. Yet, nothing happens within the PN. The only bits of news coming out of the PN's glasshouse were a couple of cock and bull reports and the announcement of new marionettes for the next show down.
From a popular political organisation, the party degenerated into a "Nostro Partito", yes, their party, and run like Cosa Nostra, with those who object being fired.
I ask: is it time for another plot to have the party back from its former conspirators and, again, a democratic political party.
