Over 550 Unibet staff gathered in Malta this week for the fourth Unibet 'Kick-Off" which has always been held on the Maltese Islands. Global CEO Henrik Tjärnström explained that more than 80% of the company's  employees would be in Malta to enjoy the Island's legendary hospitality and to reinforce Unibet's "belonging culture".

Mr. Tjärnström said that Unibet is a digital entertainment company proud to be headquartered in Malta since 2000, and that this special location for the company played a significant role in major company events. The Unibet Kick-Off is a two day series of activities, workshops, blue-sky events and social gatherings that provide a unique bond for the company's staff.

Most of the arrivals to Malta this week are coming in from Unibet's European offices to participate in the Kick Off conference, a number of renowned speakers have been secured to inspire the delegates over a two day period including   two international renowned football players, while there are also some team building activities, and a spectacular Gala Dinner being held in Malta's capital city at the Casino Maltese.

Mr. Tjärnström and local General Manager Mr. George Debrincat outlined that nine months of painstaking preparation went into the two day Malta event, and that this was the annual corporate highlight for the Stockholm listed company's staff. All the delegates were staying at the InterContinental.

"Malta is at the very heart of everything that we do," said Mr. Tjärnström as he articulated what role Malta plays in the €300 million turnover company, one of Malta's largest corporate entities. "We been growing together with the Maltese jurisdiction since day one and we have a huge talent base here in Malta, as well as across our operations in the Nordic countries, UK and elsewhere. This Kick-Off event in Malta is very important to our plans and forms part of the central programme for staff development, training and rewards, and to continue to strengthen within the employees, the motto of being passionate, friendly and expert.  We are delighted that Malta can support this kind of specialised corporate event so seamlessly."

Mr. Tjärnström said that the quality of life in the Maltese Islands was a principal reason why staff not only chose to be based here, but it was also a major factor for attracting the right talent. Mr. Tjärnström noted that the company worked fluently in 22 languages from Malta and that the country's multi-lingual environment underpinned by English helped to create competitive advantage.

Anna Rosentoft Jein, Customer Support Strategy Manager pointed out that Unibet would be offsetting all the CO2 of the flights, which have been made to get all the employees down to Malta for the Kick-Off, while Mr. Tjärnström explained that sustainability and being a good corporate citizen was an essential pillar of Unibet's approach, which also incorporated high ethical standards and rigid enforcement of responsible gaming principles. He said that the shift to mobile and tablets over the last 18 months had been very rapid and accounts for almost one third of the company's revenues already.

"We believe in Malta, and this is evidence of what Malta means to us and our teams, that's why we put so much logistical and preparatory efforts into the Kick-Off events,"Mr. Tjärnström concluded.
