Malta University Sports & Leisure is organising the third edition of the University Ring Road Fun Run/Walk & Relay on Sunday 26 October, as part of the Open Day of Discover University Open Week 2014. The friendly atmosphere of the event makes it ideal for anyone wishing to take part in a fun run or walk for the first time, while all participants who took part in previous editions can take on the challenge of beating their own previous time (individual or team). And for more seasoned athletes, there are also records in all categories (open, University staff, University students) which can be broken, although previous winners will probably also be back to try to defend their titles.The event is open to University staff, University students and the general public. The entry fees for the event are €7 for the 5km fun run/walk, €5 for the 2km fun run/walk, €20 per team of 4 runners for the 5km relay and €3 for the children's fun run. Half the proceeds from these events will be donated to Hospice Malta, the official charity of the University Ring Road Fun Run/Walk & Relay. The event will be held over two different formats: individual or team event (relay). In the relay, groups of four participants will team up to run a total of 5km and contend for the top spots, making it a perfect team building activity. There will be two distances for the individual event (2km and 5km) and participants can choose to walk or run. An 800m fun run for children will also be held. A commemorative medal and goody bag will be presented to all finishers. There will also be trophies for overall and University winners and a prize for the best fancy dress costume (adult and child).The meeting point is the University Athletics Track, Tal-Qroqq. The 5km fun run/walk will kick off at 11:00 hrs, followed by the 2km fun run/walk at 11:15 hrs, the relay at 11:45 hrs and the final event, the children's 800m fun run at 12:15 hrs. This will be followed by the presentation of awards. Registration forms are to be received by no later than Monday 20 October at noon. Late registrations will be accepted until 30 minutes before each event (at the venue), but anyone applying after 20 October will not be guaranteed a commemorative medal and goody bag.
