A 24-year old man has had a six-month jail term overturned after an appeals court found that the Police had failed to read him his rights when he was interrogated.

Shaun Galea, from Zebbug, was found guilty by a Magistrate's court of dangerous driving, as well as driving without a license and insurance.

The police had sent for Galea and questioned him after his father informed them that he was driving the car in question.

Apart from not being read his rights, Judge David Scicluna found that Galea had not even been informed that he had the right to speak to a lawyer.
