The MFCC Wedding Exhibition is back… with a bang!

Wednesday, 5 November 2014, 21:17 Last update: about 10 years ago

Following months and countless hours of preparations, we are practically at the doorstep to the launch of the 19th edition of the MFCC Wedding Exhibition, inaugurated by Mrs Michelle Muscat this Thursday 6th November at 19.00hrs.

Joan Haber, nowadays a name synonymous with the 'Wedding Fair', is the officialorganizer who's been nurturing her brainchild since the very first edition in 1996. In collaboration with the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta' Qali, this year the exhibition will be covering 8000 square metres, split between 160 exhibitors, all on their toes, set to charm the curious couples with their latest novelties.

Over a span of four days, one can literally plan a wedding under one roof, over the weekend! On Thursday and Friday the fair will be open from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, on Saturday it will close at 11pm and on Sunday it will be open from 2.30pm to 9.30pm. "There is no space left for a micro-stand as all possible exhibition areas have been allocated. This year we have 35 new exhibitors, and up until this week enquiries kept coming in by various entrepreneurs showing interest in participating in this ever so popular event. The space is what it is, and our greatest anguish is that we have to refuse such requests due to the limited space, despite such a big area." says Joan.   Apart from the TFS, being the main exhibition area, there will also be an additional tent known as the Petite Hall split amongst a joint group of exhibitors, as well as two packed foyers on the sides.

Much to Joan's satisfaction, this event has flourished into a 'Wedding World Showcase', beaming with the latest trends and innovative ideas, embellished with floral décor, live music entertainment, bespoke creative touches, exotic honeymoon destinations, and beautiful bridal gowns, having the brides drool in delight while the grooms sweat with anxiety at the mere thought.

Despite the glitz and glamour, it is no easy feat, as Joan explains. "It is hard work to keep up with the times, and have every edition better than the year before, while trying to meet a thousand ends simultaneously.       The greatest challenge is keeping up with all the demands that need to be satisfied from a back-of-house point of view."

Next year will mark the 20th anniversary since the inception of the Weddings Fair and while this one is not even over yet, notes are already being jotted down for what's yet to be the most extravagant edition ever.

Although this fair is mostly targeted towards young (or not so young) couples, it is an excellent opportunity for those planning to organise any type of reception such as anniversaries, birthdays and corporate events, especially with Christmas staff parties round the corner. The service providers can cater for any size or theme throughout the year.

Gozitan couples are encouraged to attend on Sunday 9th November, making use of the provided transport  fromCirkewwa to MFCC at 2pm, and back from MFCC to Cirkewwa at 8.30pm, by booking in advance on 21414040 / 79414040. Block tickets also available.

Everything is set to welcome the thousands of couples who are eager to plan or polish off their 'Big Day'. All visitors can benefit from promotions, offers and lottery prizes including a dream honeymoon to Sri Lanka sponsored by Staff Travel, four photoshoots thanks to Sean Azzopardi Photography, flight tickets, freebies and much more.
