Government to launch a national policy on the integration of migrants next year - Dalli

The government will launch a national policy on the integration of migrants next year, Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli said in Parliament today in reply to a PQ by PN MP Claudette Buttigieg.

Dr Dalli said the government is pushing for a European-wide integration plan. It is also undertaking a €108,000 project co-funded with the EU called 'Mind the Gap: Together we can make a different which will lead to a national policy.

The project will see the publication of a national report for an integration strategy which will identify the gap in the admission procedure of third country nationals.

Dr Dalli said that an official has been appointed to assess the integration of migrants and a special unit has been set up to strengthen the process.
