I am always on the hunt to find ways to make my outfits look chic and more expensive. Living on a student's budget has taught me how to spend less, but still find pieces that make me look and feel like a million dollar.
When it comes to seasonal trends, I never splurge on fringe boots or neon dresses. These pieces will be worn to death for a couple of months and then discarded to the depths of your closet once the fad is over. Instead, opt for chic neutrals in cream, grey, white, navy, nude and especially black.

Besides having the ease of matching everything in your wardrobe, these colours add elegance to any outfit.
Find a well cut silk shirt in these soft tones and pair with jeans and your outfit will instantly look stylish. Looking good is that easy.

Splurge on a high quality bag and wear it daily with inexpensive basics
Do not go overboard with costume jewellery. Remind yourself that less is more and stick to a single piece that is versatile and blends well with your overall look.Tailoring makes all the difference.
Donning a blazer, shirt or trousers that are perfectly fitted to your body will instantly take your outfit up a notch. Add some exotic textures to inject a dose of luxury into your outfit, such as a snakeskin tote or a faux fur coat.

A faux fur stole or waistcoat will instantly make a basic outfit feel expensive (and it will keep you warm)
Leathers and animal skins are a quick way to make your ensemble look lavish. What is it about oversized glasses that make an outfit look more expensive? Perhaps it is the exaggeration of the piece, but large shades in dark tones and tortoise shell patterns help you to exude power and can be purchased for pocket money at most high street shops.

Black and nude is always a winning combination, so experiment with neutral pairings
Get rid of any shoes or bags with scuffs. Noticeable signs of wear and tear do nothing for your outfit except cheapen it. Follow the French girl guide to style by investing in good quality shoes and bags in classic styles. You will wear these for years and it will be worth the initial splurge. So next time you are on the hunt for a new look, keep these tips in mind and your outfit will be sure to garner some well- deserved attention.
