Excellent turnout for BOV Caritas Trail

Monday, 17 November 2014, 22:10 Last update: about 11 years ago

Hundreds participated in the second edition of the BOV Caritas Trail, cycling, running or walking in aid of Caritas (Malta).

The President of Malta, H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro-Preca joined the crowds that dedicated this Sunday morning to Caritas (Malta). She was flanked by Leonid McKay Director of Caritas (Malta), Charles Borg CEO Bank of Valletta and Joseph Gafá CEO MaltaPost as they set the pace for the walkers.

The participants were greeted by cheers and clapping as they reached the finishing line at the San Blas Therapeutic Community Centre in the limits of Zebbug.

In the brief ceremony that followed within the San Blas Community Centre, Mr Borg thanked all the participants and presented Mr McKay with the Bank's donation relating to the 'Together for Caritas Campaign' which ran between the 28th September and 31st October 2014.

"It is with pleasure that for the second year, we are supporting the Caritas Trail," said Mr Borg. "We would like to thank all our customers who effected transactions with their BOV Cards or through the Bank's Mobile Pay during the campaign. Bank of Valletta has pledged a donation for every transaction effected through these convenient channels and we are today presenting this donation to Caritas (Malta) to support them with the offering of their services to the Maltese society," he concluded.

"We are overwhelmed with this year's participation in the BOV Caritas Trail", said Mr McKay. "No words can describe the gratitude we feel towards the Maltese Community that has risen to the challenge to help us raise the much needed funds to ensure the survival of our centres and the programmes we offer. Of course we also extend this gratitude to Bank of Valletta who always comes to our assistance supporting our initiatives and our cause."
