DHL Express has been appointed the official logistics partner to the Malta Marathon Organising Committee. The agreement covers the forthcoming Urban Jungle Mdina 2 Spinola Xmas Road Race which will be held on 21 December, the 2015 Vodafone Malta Marathon that will be held on 22 February as well as the Mdina Glass Ladies Running Club 10 km race.
DHL Express will be providing a number of vans to transport the athletes' clothes from the race start to the finish while the races are under way. DHL race blankets will be given to each athlete as they cross the finish line of the 2014 Mdina 2 Spinola and the 2015 Malta Marathon. This will be the first time in Malta for athletes to receive these race blankets.
DHL Express will also be providing transport for the movement of equipment that will be used during the races.
"The logistics expertise of DHL Express will be put to good use both in ensuring the safe delivery of all the athletes' gear and to provide vital transport for the movement of goods," Malta Marathon Race Director Joe Micallef said.
DHL Express Countrry Manager, Malta, Charles Schiavone said the organisation was fully geared up to providing the Malta Marathon Organising Committee all the logistical back-up required and already gives similar support to the Athens Marathon. "We will be integrating seamlessly with the organisers and volunteers at all these races to ensure that everything runs smoothly and successfully," he added.
Applications for the 2014 Urban Jungle Mdina 2 Spinola Xmas Road Race and the 2015 Vodafone Malta Marathon are open and can be accessed from www.maltamarathon.com.
