EasyJet, the low-cost British airline announced the cancellation of 40 flights due to a strike by its flight attendants in France. Only the French domestic flights scheduled on Friday will be affected by the strike that was planned for December 25 and 26.
EasyJet in a statement revealed that there were 1,200 scheduled flights on Friday and the strike will mainly affect the French domestic flights as the flight attendants in France called this strike over scheduling and payment issues with the management.
The company also indicated that 38 flights would be cancelled, mainly serving domestic routes but also those to Milan and Barcelona. The unions representing the workers are asking for a better management of the employees' schedules and for a larger share of the company's profits.
EasyJet's boss in France François Bacchetta had said he understood the cabin staff's "frustration" and had added that the company was working on this "very complex" issue. EasyJet employs over 600 flight attendants among its roughly 1,000 workers in France.
