May I publically acknowledge the donation that the Mission Fund recently sent me to sustain the missionary activity that I am pursuing in the Pacific.

I am a Discalced Carmelite priest, better known in Malta as 'Terezjani' and have been working in this part of the world for nearly two decades.  The Pacific Ocean encompasses approximately one-third of the earth's surface. It comprises over 20,000 islands. I work in some of these islands.

To understand the gravity of the situation of the Church in this area, it is enough to realize that to serve almost two million Catholics spread out among thousands of islands with hundreds of languages spoken, there are less than 600 priests. Suicide and teenage pregnancy is a real serious issue in these islands.
