Ebola case confirmed in Glasgow hospital

The Scottish government have confirmed an Ebola case has been diagnosed and treated at a Glasgow hospital.

A healthcare worker returning from Sierra Leone has been found to carry the virus while being attended to by specialists in the Brownlee Unit for Infectious Diseases at Glasgow's Gartnavel hospital.

NHS Scotland have stated that infectious diseases procedures have been put into action.

While public health officials have stated the risks are 'neglible'

According to Kay Burley at Sky News, the patient will be transferred as soon a possible to London's Royal Free Hospital which successfully treated the UK's first Ebola victim, nurse Will Pooley.

Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated: 'Our first thoughts at this time must be with the patient diagnosed with Ebola and their friends and family.

'I wish them a speedy recovery.

'Scotland has been preparing for this possibility from the beginning of the outbreak in West Africa and I am confident that we are well prepared.'
