Bank of Valletta reported that donations to L-Istrina Marathon via the BOV Mobile App on the day of the live broadcast increased by more than twofold when compared to the amount donated via the app during the previous year.
Bank of Valletta has invited its customers to use the free application to make their donation to the national marathon towards the Malta Community Chest Fund. Speaking about the figure, Ivo Camilleri, Executive Head at the bank responsible for the bank's Multichannel programme, said that this was the third time that the bank offered this service. "It gives us great satisfaction to note that our customers have responded very positively to our application and are now also using it for philanthropic purposes, as in this case. In fact the total figure donated to L-Istrina via our BOV Mobile Application doubled in amount compared to last year."
Launched in 2012 as the first mobile banking platform in Malta, BOV Mobile is free to download, giving customers an intuitive and user-friendly application to make person-to-person payments, pay bills, top-up any mobile phone, whilst also monitoring one's deposit and loan accounts, as well as credit cards at any time from one's mobile phone.
During the live broadcast on the 26th December, the bank's CEO Charles Borg presented a donation of €135,000 representing funds collected through the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank campaign across all schools in Malta and Gozo as well as several retail outlets, which was then doubled by the bank.
