Bank of Valletta announced that its BOV 3D Secure service is being extended to the last remaining cards, namely BOV Cashlink Visa, BOV Cashlink Visa Gold and BOV Cashlink Visa Black.

Offered in collaboration with VISA and MasterCard, the BOV 3D Secure is a service that is available automatically and free of charge to all BOV cardholders when shopping online. A cardholder effecting an online payment at one of the participating merchants is presented with a message from BOV, notifying him that he will be receiving a passcode on his mobile phone. This code is entered by the cardholder at checkout point, and the transaction is authenticated. This technology automatically recognises the whole spectrum of BOV VISA and MasterCard cards when presented at participating online stores.

"BOV 3D Secure represents an important benefit to our cardholders," explained Ivo Camilleri BOV Executive Head, Electronic Banking Services. "Customers have additional peace of mind since only transactions authenticated by themselves are authorised when shopping at participating merchants." Mr Camilleri urged BOV cardholders to register their mobile phones with the Bank, so they can benefit from this service.

"Participating merchants will also be benefiting from BOV 3D Secure," continued Ivo Camilleri. "The BOV 3D Secure service has been designed to be customer friendly and easy to use, which should help boost sales due to enhanced consumer confidence and the reduced risk of fraudulent transactions."
