Hotel Phoenicia has named Pegasus Head Waiter John Paul Vella as its Employee of the Year 2014. The 5-star hotel's coveted annual award has been established to highlight the outstanding contribution individual employees make to Hotel Phoenicia and its guests.
Hotel Phoenicia Employee of the Year is chosen through an annual process. Every 3 months, the Heads of Department nominate employees that excel in their positions and then all those nominated during the year are automatically nominated for the Employee of the Year award. Mr Vella received this award because he excelled in his role at Pegasus and showed continuous commitment to the hotel's core values when interacting with guests and colleagues.
Mr Vella was presented with a cash prize of €500 together with a commemorative glass plate by hotel General Manager Charles Azzopardi. Mr Vella said: "We've had a number of awards at Pegasus, media, FestaVico, TripAdvisor, GamberoRosso, but this award is the one I am most proud of, for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes so we can deliver good service at the front of house. It's a great honour to follow in the footsteps of some special members of staff who previously won this award."
Hotel Phoenicia's Food & Beverage Manager Francesco Perricone said, "We are delighted that John Paul has brought the Employee of the Year accolade to Pegasus, it's a great boost for our whole team. This award recognises an outstanding employee who exemplifies above-average technical competence and hospitality skills. We are very proud of John Paul and the entire award-winning team at Pegasus."
