The Everlink, a live audio-visual show produced by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra in collaboration with the Eden Cinemas, was held in cinema 16, Malta's largest cinema screen, last weekend.
With original music composed by Reuben Pace and a charming story written by Malcolm Galea, this unique production incorporating a 40-piece orchestra, live narration by Alan Paris accompanying an animated film on screen, was the first of its kind in Malta and proved to be a huge success drawing in many families and children. Spokesperson for the Eden Cinemas, Kate de Cesare stated "Although The Everlink attracted people of all ages, the primary aim of the production was to introduce children to classical music, in a fun, innovative way.
After watching this musical production, with live music accompanying a film on screen, one could appreciate all the work that goes in to creating a film or cartoon soundtrack.
The Everlink is a true example of entertainment that enlightens!" "Over the last few years, we at Eden Cinemas have been committed to supporting the arts by showing live operas, ballets, art exhibitions, plays on screen and the regular screening Independent art-movies.
We are also very committed to supporting local talent, showing many Maltese films each year. The Everlink enabled us to support the arts and local artists in one fell swoop. The successful collaboration with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra on this project is the first in a series of live events we will expect to organise."Chairman of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Sigmund Mifsud felt that this collaboration with Eden Cinemas was "A very positive experiment".
Mr Mifsud added "I certainly hope we can continue further developing these kids of initiatives."An additional show was organised for schools and was very well attended. Moreover, in order to extend this musical experience to the less fortunate, children from numerous organisations such as Appogg, Dar Merhba Bik and St. Joan Antide were invited to watch the final performance on Sunday afternoon.
