The UHM today issued a clarification after “unfounded” claims appeared in certain sections of the media concerning the union’s directives in the health sector.

The UHM said that the government was obliged to inform doctors on the directives which could have been issued.

“The action started on 5 February after the UHM spent two years trying to negotiate an agreement and after UHM representatives were left to wait for more than an hour in the ministry concerned to attend a meeting with ministry officials.

The government, the UHM said, also had the option of handing the laboratory tests to other professionals to have them processed.

The UHM concluded by stating that the claims made against the union are unfounded.
