Parliamentary Secretary for Health Chris Fearne emphasised that in order to prevent chronic conditions it is vital one controls his sugar levels, keeps his blood pressure in check, avoids smoking, drinks lots of water and engages in physical activity.

He was speaking during a visit to the Floriana health centre this morning to mark World Kidney Day, marked yesterday.

He said that the health department is determined to continue working to strengthen acute care, adding that kidney disease is a silent problem which has a huge impact on the lives of those diagnosed with the condition.
