I will not be here for long; I would like to go to pizzeria without being recognised - Pope Francis

My sensation is that my time as Pope will not be long, probably between four and five years, and two have already passed, Pope Francis said in an interview to a Mexican television station on the day he celebrated his two years as head of the Church.

In the interview, he indicated that he has no intention to resign, and still appreciates the decision taken by Benedict XVI to call it a day in February of 2013. Asked whether there should be an age limit for a pope, as there is for bishops (75), the Pope said that he does not agree with such a proposal.

But he said he admired Pope Benedict for a courageous decision, just as much as it was courageous for him to have exposed sexual abuse cases committed by clerics, including some against children.

He said his greatest sacrifice as a Pope is the need to travel. “I am a creature of habit, and do not like to move around a lot. I do not like to travel, just as much as previously I did not like having to come to Rome.”

He also laments being famous and well-known deprives him of privacy. “I would like to go to a pizzeria without being recognised,” he said.
