Church school ballots for Kindergarten 1 are to take place tomorrow, the Church’s education secretariat confirmed.

In a statement, the secretariat said that in November last year, it announced that a total 64 vacant posts were available for boys and girls for Kindergarten 1.

“In November, applications for the first criteria, meaning those students given priority since their brothers or sisters are already in a church school, were issued."

"In January, the secretariat had also issued a statement – as it does each year – where it explained how many vacant places were left – 25 for boys and 30 for girls.

“From January to date, other applications had been submitted, including those considered to be of a serious nature.”

The secretariat said that it received 47 applications of this sort and the results can be found on the Curia’s website.

During the last few weeks, ballot results were issued for Form 1, first year and kinder 2-related posts.

The secretariat said that due to the small amount of vacancies in kinder 1, those brothers and sisters who are applying to enter a church school at the same time, for instance kinder 1 and another grade, will be given priority but not all can utilise this priority, meaning that not all will probably end up in the same school. Therefore, in future, there is a possibility that there will be other posts for Kindergarten 1.

The secretariat confirmed that despite the limitation of the number of posts for Kinder 1, the ballots will still take place on 18 April at the St Paul Missionary College in Rabat. The ballots for kinder 1 boys will be held at 9 a.m. while for kinder 1 girls at 11.15 a.m. The results will be issued on 20 April and will be published in the Curia website.
