Number of unemployed persons with disability reduced by 117 during this legislature

During a visit to the Medavia offices in occasion of Worker's Day, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing, Justyne Caruana spke about the government's commitment to continue its work in order to integrate persons with disability in society, particularly in the employment sector. 

Parliamentary Secretary Justyne Caruana emphasized the fact that unemployment among persons with disability was reduced by 21%, since 117 persons with disability found employment during this legislature.  She reiterated that such achievements are the result of the government’s efforts. She mentioned measures and incentives announced during the last budget, among which the fiscal incentives for all of those who employ persons with disability. 

She also announced that her secretariat is working closely with the ETC in order to implement a project which was also announced during the last budget, which will create 80 jobs for persons with disability in Gozo.  She mentioned the ongoing works to open the first life long learning centre for persons with disability. This first hub will be situated in Gozo and will train more people to enter the workforce.
