A 44-year-old man was charged was today charged with illegal manufacture and storage of fireworks material.

He was arraigned in court in Gozo after the police found the fireworks material in Santa Dominka Street, Victoria, yesterday evening.  The material was found in a container close to a room in a field in the vicinity of a convent, the police said.

The Gozitan man pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him and was granted bail against a deposit of €1,000 and personal gurantee of €5,000.

The court ordered the suspension of his license until the case is closed.
