MCST Executive Chairman Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando has a salary of €33,835, a performance bonus amounting to 10% of the salary, and an expense allowance of €2,096, Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli said in Parliament today.

Dr Dalli was replying on behalf of Education Minister Evarist Bartolo to a Parliamentary Question by PN MP Jason Azzopardi. Mr Pullicino Orlando also enjoys a “market correctivity allowance” of €11,647, a car allowance of €4,193, a fuel allowance of 150 litres per month, and paid internet and mobile phone.

Dr Dalli said the former PN backbencher was directly appointed on the basis of trust.

A 2010 PQ shows that Dr Pullicino Orlando had a salary of €13,000 at the time, plus the market correctivity allowance, but he was then chairman, and the college also had a CEO, Nicholas Sammut.

Stephen Cachia

Replying to another PQ, Dr Dalli said MCAST Principal Stephen Cachia has an annual salary of €55,000, a fuel allowance of 150 litres per month, an expense allowance of €2,096, and a fully paid landline, internet and mobile phone. Mr Cachia, who was already a member of the public service, was directly appointed on detail by the Office of the Prime Minister.

Tonio Montebello

Environment Minister Leo Brincat said, in reply to another PQ, that the WasteServ CEO, Tonio Montebello, has a salary package €3,147 cheaper than those handed out by the previous administration. He was also directly appointed.
