Hundreds of elated fans have welcomed Eurovision Song Contest winner Mans Zelmerlow upon his return to Sweden after the country's sixth triumph in the annual pop fest.

The 28-year-old old singer-slash-TV host arrived at Stockholm's Arlanda Airport draped in a Swedish flag and waving the Eurovision trophy.

Zelmerlow, who became known to Swedes through TV talent shows 10 years ago, won the competition Saturday in Vienna with the thumping club anthem "Heroes."

Sleep-deprived but smiling, he told reporters at the airport: "I've longed for this moment for 10 years, and now here it is."

Sweden is emerging as a mini-superpower in the Eurovision Song Contest with two victories and two third places in the last five years. The only country with more wins is Ireland, which has seven.
