San Giljan Crystal Finance     14     Exiles Ferretti     7

(4-1, 4-0, 1-2, 5-4)

Sliema were less than a day in the top place in the standings, with San Giljan going back to their top position with a routine win over Exiles.  The Saints opened up strongly to take a winning advantage till the interval. Then their play went down a notch, and Exiles could come more into the picture. The last session produced a glut of goals, as the saints surged forward once more, but Exiles managed to answer back on more than one occasion, with all four goals coming from Marco Cuk. With a good lead under their belt San Giljan had Daniel Spiteri in goal, for the last quarter, instead of Joseph Sammut, putting in a decent performance.

After conceding the opening goal of the match, the Saints pierced the exiles defence four times. The second session had san Giljan adding on four more goals without any reply, as they led 8-1, at the interval. After the break there was a scarcity of goals, with Exiles putting in two to the Saints' one. Then came the last period, as both sides were well served in attack, and with San Giljan sitting comfortably on their good advantage, they registered their third win on the trot. They converted half of their eight man ups, with Exiles only scoring once from five occasions.

Boris Vapenski netted a poker of goals for the Saints, and Marco Cuk finishing with five strikes for Exiles.

Neptunes Grimaldi     10     Sirens Ritter Sport     7

(6-2, 1-2, 0-2, 3-1)

Neptunes came out roaring in this encounter, and slotted in five goals in succession. The crowd present, in cold conditions, thought that there was going to be a rout, but Sirens, who managed to hold Sliema to a drawn encounter, days ago, shook themselves up, and proceeded to creep back into the reckoning.

They pulled a goal back in the next session, with the champions going in 7-4 ahead at halftime. Neptunes were shut out after the interval, with Sirens scoring twice more, the second one just a second from the buzzer, taking the score to just 6-7 behind.

When Zach Mizzi backhanded in his goal the two sides were level, but the effort that Sirens made took its toll, and Neptunes immediately went back in front. Missed man ups at both ends kept the score unchanged, until Neptunes breached the Sirens fort twice in the late stages of the match, to make sure of the result. and denying Sirens of any occasion to cause an upset. Both sides were guilty of missed man ups, with the champions netting three out of eight occasions, and Sirens only managing two goals in their ten man ups, and paying the consequences,

Steve Camilleri shot in four goals and Peter Biros secured a hat trick for the champions. Sirens' two foreigners, Christian Presciutti and Csaba Kiss, netted a brace of goals each.
