A concert of original songs in Maltese

Following the success of her debut album Hawn jien, a collection of original songs in Maltese, singer/songwriter Corazón will be performing in concert at Pjazza Teatru Rjal this summer. She will be accompanied by a live band of talented musicians under the direction of Dominic Galea.

The thematics in Corazón's songs are very diverse, presenting a decisively feminine and humane outlook on social realities and current situations. Corazón has never shyed away from singing about what is usually swept under the carpet: she gives a voice to the prostitute (in Illejla b'xejn), to the unborn child (in Hawn jien) and also to the woman betrayed by her husband (In Marì). The concert will also include popular songs such as Tal-Aħħar, Xelin and Fid-Dar tan-nanna.

The songs take over a whole new meaning by means of a series of short video presentations accompanying each song. Corazón's concerts have been reputed to differ in originality and in fact Corazón insists that they are not simply musical performances as much as an "experience" for her audiences. For this concert she is preparing a series of surprises and unconventional touches. The concert will be hosted by Daniel Chircop who will also introduce an element of comedy to the night.

Pjazza Teatru Rjal offers the ideal setting and creates a magic atmosphere for this style of concert. "This concert is one not to be missed, especially by those who have our language at heart," comments Corazón. Her first concert held last January at the Casino Maltese in Valletta was sold out a week before the performance. Therefore it is highly recommended that tickets are purchased early. The concert will take place on Saturday, 11 July at 9pm at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta. Tickets may be purchased online from www.ticketline.com.mt
