Greek Prime Minister indicates that creditors might have problems with proposals put forward

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras indicates that some creditors might have issues with the proposals submitted earlier this week.

“The odd stance seems to indicate that either there is no interest in an agreement or that special interests are being backed,” he wrote on Twitter.

“The insistence of certain institutions of not accepting parametric measures has never happened before -- not in Ireland, nor in Portugal,” he continued.

This casts doubt as to whether or not a deal will be found within the Eurogroup Finance Ministers’ meeting later on today.

The Greek Prime Minister is also touted to be meeting with heads of the International Monetary Fund, the European Bank and the European Commission later today.

Greece currently owes over €1bn to the IMF, and should talks go well, then over €7bn in funds will be released to Greece.

The European Council Summit, to begin tomorrow, is also expected to discuss the Greek issue. The proposals were, to a certain extent, welcomed by the Eurogroup meeting earlier this week, however there was insistence that it was just a first step.

The proposals included a raise the sales tax and certain tax increases for businesses
