120,000 registrations for tallinja card, majority to be delivered before new fare structure starts

Saturday, 27 June 2015, 13:16 Last update: about 10 years ago

Registrations for the tallinja card have exceeded 120,000 in the past few days, Malta Public Transport said today.

The public transport operator said all registrations for the tallinja card that were made by 19 June - totalling 105,000 cards - will be delivered by the 30 June before the new fare structure comes into effect on Wednesday 1 July.

“Additional resources have been put in place over the weekend to ensure that this target is met. With regard to those registrations received after the 19 June, these are also being processed and will be delivered the following days.

The company would like to remind card holders to top up their card on www.tallinja.com or using any of the other official outlets available before 1 July, in order to benefit from the reduced fares given that the only ticket that will be available on the bus from the 1 July will be of €2 per journey.

It is understood that some people have not yet received their tallinja card, and that there is concern that they will not receive their card in time before 1 July. Malta Public Transport would like to reassure the public that should this be the case, and the registration would have been made before the 30th June, there will be the possibility to make a claim for the difference in price of the ticket.

Malta Public Transport would like to reassure the public that all efforts are being made to ensure that there is a smooth transition on the 1 July. Additional personnel will be available to assist the public and to minimise the inconvenience of this change as much as possible.”
