Michelle Muscat has completed her Gozo to Malta swim, arriving at Cirkewwa at 5.58pm. She swam the channel to raise funds for the Marigold Foundation and the Malta Special Olympics team.

The Prime Minister’s wife started her journey in Qala and was escorted by rescue boats to Comino. There she was joined by swimmers from the Malta Special Olympics team and together they swam for Cirkewwa.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and his children welcomed Mrs Muscat on her arrival at Cirkewwa. He tweeted the picture above.

Mrs Muscat trained for the event for a number of months but it was feared that the event would be cancelled at the last minute because of the high winds and rough sea.

Donations may be made on BOV mobile at 79639556 or BOV account 40023325450.

The Marigold Foundation's purpose is to raise awareness of the challenges faced society relating to social behaviour, health issues, special needs and education.
