Bulgarian woman admits to stealing from elderly woman; sentenced to 9 months

A 42-year-old Bulgarian woman today was sentenced to 9 months prison after she was found guilty of stealing from an elderly woman. 

The incident in question happened on the morning of 16 July 2015 in a residence in Triq Bormla, Paola. The accused, Gina Panteleeva, was charged with stealing cash, amounting to €600, to the detriment of Irene Treeby.

Ms Panteleeva admitted to the charges brought against her. The court noted that the woman had a clean conduct. 

Magistrate Gabriella Vella handed down a 9-month prison sentence.

Police Inspectors Kurt Zahra and Paula Ciantar led the prosecution.
