Urgent call for blood donors as heatwave results in fewer donations; reserves at critical levels

Tuesday, 21 July 2015, 09:31 Last update: about 12 years ago

The current heatwave has resulted in fewer blood donations, and current reserves are now at critical levels, the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) has said.

As such, the NBTS requests people to donate blood, by going to the centre for blood donation in Gwardamanga (open from 8am to 6pm each day), or the Gozo blood donation centre in the outpatients department which will be open from 1pm to 5pm today.

The NBTS said that those who plan on donating should drink lots of water, and should also bring along their ID card, passport or driver's license.
