The tallinja card is becoming increasingly more popular with users of the public transport network, Malta Public Transport said today. In fact, more than 60,000 trips are made using the tallinja card on a daily basis. More than 90,000 passengers have used the card since when this was launched and have thus benefited from reduced fares when using the public transport network. To date, almost 180,000 registrations have been received and more than 170,000 cards have been delivered to customers.

“We are satisfied with the number of customers that are using the tallinja card on the public transport network," said Daniel Grech, Commercial Director of Malta Public Transport. “The key to introducing complex technologies such as the tallinja card is to make it as simple as possible for the customer. It is therefore very important to constantly listen to our customers and to immediately put into effect any feedback that they pass on to us. Furthermore, more than 7,000 passengers have reached their monthly cap. This means these passengers will be travelling for free during the rest of the month.”

The company would like to informits customers that the ticket refund process will be open until 31 July. Given the large number of registrations that took place on 1 and 2 July, the company decided to extend the eligibility for the refunds to include those that registered until 2 July. Therefore,customers who have applied for a tallinja card by the 2 July and bought a ticket in cash from the bus till their card was delivered are eligible for a refund of the difference in price.

Customers are requested to write their ID card number, tallinja card customer number and telephone number on the back of every receipt and send these by post to P.O. Box 10, Marsa.

The refunds will be processed by the end of August and will be credited directly to the tallinja card.
