A poacher in Gozo has been arrested, after a team from the Committee against Bird Slaughter (CABS) NGO, caught him in the act and informed the police.

Writing on their Facebook page, CABS said - "Yesterday our team on Malta´s sister island Gozo filmed a young poacher while he was operating a massive illegal clap netting site to catch protected stints and sandpipers. The man - who is a repeat offender - was reported to the police and arrested at the site".

"The net, an illegal bird caller and several plastic decoys were confiscated. The picture shows the poacher on his trapping site, shortly before the police arrived. CABS Wildlife Crime Officer Fiona Burrows praised the police for quickly responding to our report which led to the arrest of the poacher. He will be taken to court soon"
