Prime Minister and Labour leader Joseph Muscat today met with members of the Institute of Maltese Journalists.
Dr Muscat raised the issue of the need to reform press laws, which will allow for more freedom of expression, with its ensuing responsibilities.
The Prime Minister said the updating of censorships laws is a clear example of the government’s dedication to making Maltese laws more relevant to today’s world.
He implored the Institute to participate in the debate on the press law reforms.
Chairman of the Institute Karl Wright said such meetings are important in order for political parties to understand the perspective and role of Maltese journalists, in order to foster respect between the two parties.
