A man who beat up another in a fit of rage after he had been two-timed by his partner has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of community work.

Magistrate Marseann Farrugia found the 31-year-old of Attard guilty of seriously injuring the other man. 

The court heard how the accused was dating a woman, when she two-timed him with her former boyfriend. She had immediately told him about the matter and he had taken it very badly. 

One day, he forced her to call her former boyfriend  to tell him to meet her in Pembroke at 11.15pm. But he went instead and the two men came to blows.

In her considerations, Magistrate Farrugia noted how the accused was now living a stable life, was working as a financial controller with a private firm, was studying to become an auditor and was reading a Masters course in financial services at the University of Malta.
