Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis today hailed what has been a record year for the film industry in Malta, with five major productions already having taken place to date.
The first film production ever held in Malta was in March 1925.
The feature film, ‘Sons of the Sea,’ was produced and directed by H.Bruce Woolfe.
The commemorative concert will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on the 25 and 26 September.
The Tourism Minister said works are under way on a national plan for the film industry.
A publication consultation process on the new plan will begin in September.
He said the government has managed to stimulate the film industry in Malta, to great economic benefit.
